Conjuring Roses
The things that people do
are of no use to you.
It's like conjuring roses
out of the blue,
wearing red rubber noses
stuck on with glue.
Daring rhythms
speak of schisms
between what we
know and what
we can't imagine.
Contrived derivations
intended to ennoble
only serve to whet
the greed of poor relations.
We've failed the civics lesson,
biology and psychology, too.
Education's now become
a recipe for forgetting
who we are and what we do.
Drum beats, sheep bleats,
heat beats, strategic retreats.
mad dog in heat breeds disaster
for the capitalistic master.
Finish with a flourish
and you just might nourish
the seeds of truth in
a generation new.
