the bleeding newsroom
the news today is pale
kid gloves ride the headlines
when does the real story get written?
the news room bleeds and they put a bandaid on
to stop the bleeding.
questions are not asked
and followed through.
tenderly now, the news raises its hand,
but oh so fearful of causing waves.
the news sleep walks
and fumbles the ball, mumbles
inarticulate rhythms.
finally, the news gives certain people
a free ride.
once upon a time the news meant something,
but today it means nothing much.
the blood of the news room coagulates,
dries up.questions are not asked
and the kid gloves still dictate
the headlines.
