The Rip Post

don't worry too much right now...

some profound culture
plops sloppily into my lap
they said come in at twelve:ten
be ready for anything at one:sixteen
it's now four:forty three
some erudite insanity
confesses it tries too hard
to fit in with the everyday way of things.
and just what way would that go?
make sure you put down your account number
on all the pain they are asking you to pay for.
a reasonable man met me the other day.
everything he said had its fingers crossed.
i think i'm gonna stumble home now.
don't worry too much...they'll find out where you live
no matter how many costumes you try on.

Warren Zevon
mr.bad example's heart beats behind the
confused weather of a planet that needs
at times, a lobotomy, however, i come to yodel
all those desperadoes waiting beneath the eaves
for excitable boy run trains that shimmy shammy
my poor poor pitiful me but what about you love
tonight we send lawyers guns and money
to the hootenanny of the spinning gold record
of our hearts, tipping one in the moment back
because the lung cancer gunmen came and
picked him to join them in their final dance,
he took their invitation, he got up and began to
quietly hum, mr.bad example's heart beats
beats genuine and on...
