OFF THE GRID
At Daisy Hill, we lived off the grid.
We found alternative energy sources.
America is built on the grid.
America is wired on the grid.
Lives are bought and sold on the grid
The news is vended on the grid.
The grid has its own rhetoric and grammar.
It is exclusive: that which cannot depend
on the grid for function is irrelevant.
It seeks to exterminate that
which is wild and independent.
It is against beauty and freedom.
The grid's function is patterned on
what yields the most capital return
for the least capital risk.
That which cannot be
manipulated by the grid
for the sake of profit
is irrelevant.
Destruction of cities,
destruction of cultures,
destruction of ecosystems
are irrelevant to the
keepers of the grid.
The grid permeates into
the psychosocial realm
and disrupts ancient patterns.
Is the universe random
and indifferent?
Or is there purpose,
logic and cohesion?
Or both?
