THE MATINEE JUST FELL ASLEEP
when the holy roller fell down
the earth sort of shook
all the people who had winning tickets
glowed
all that glowing disrupted my eyes
my eyes get angry when they get disrupted
my eyes get angry and take it out on me
i didn't want to be taken anywhere
tonight i want to stay inside
but that holy roller fell down
and the earth got the shakes
i didn't have a winning ticket
i don't expect to get one
i don't glow as much as those others
all that glowing made the matinee fall asleep
right during the good part
i know you have a copy of the good part hiding in your dog's collar
somebody needs watch over the archives
could you send the dog on over
i still have a few treats left
but tell him not to take his time
they keep raising the ante here every five minutes
they keep looking through the windows
smiling, having a great time.
